Used Office Furniture
Used Office Furniture - Buying Guide
Buying used office furniture can appear difficult at first. There's lots to consider, the brand, finish, size, quality etc. We have put together an overview of what to look for and how to shop for used office furniture.
Quantity
The quantity of pieces you're needing will help define what inventories could work for your project. If you're only needing one or two items you may have a difficult time. Most office furniture dealers that carry name brand furniture don't enjoy selling one or two items at a time. Start by knowing the number of pieces you need and narrow down inventories based on how many are in stock.
Price Point
Your budget per item will dictate what inventories you need to pursue. Most used desks and cubicles won't be over $1,200 each, even for name brand, high end product. If your budget is less than $500 per cubicle you may want to check Craigs list. Most used office furniture dealers don't purchase items that have been torn down and they don't purchase junk. This means that if you're looking for quality product, the price will usually be over $700 for larger items.
Brand
Furniture manufacturers build different levels of quality, style and finishes. The most popular name brands are typically more expensive because they have better quality and frankly, look better. However, soon brands are better than others at manufacturing different items. Example, Knoll is very good at making private office furniture. Herman Miller is very good at making cubicles and office seating, Steelcase is known for their filing options and Allsteel is known for their conference tables. Knowing what furniture brand you're needing is also beneficial if you're tiring to match cubicles, desks or office seating.
